Shiva is known as the “destroyer and transformer”. As one of the supreme deities of the Hindu trinity, he creates, protects and destroys the universe. Regarded as the patron of yoga, meditation and arts he is a force of energy and creative power. Shiva is depicted in many forms but perhaps most famously as the Nataraja, or “Lord of Dance”. His dance is said to mark destruction but also transition from one stage to another.
